Wurruk Community House Inc.

A Brief History
1988. The Uniting Church in Sale identified a need for a community program to be established in Wurruk following surveys and door knocking by an Outreach Worker.
Coffee mornings, craft groups and evening church services were held in private homes and after school activities were held in the School.

1989. Activities for children and adults were conducted from a caravan purchased by the Uniting Church and situated in White Court, adjacent to the site of the present house.

1995. The Church sold a property in Sale and gifted the proceeds to the Wurruk community to build a Community House in Wurruk.
The Ministry of Housing and the City of Sale contributed the land on which the house was built and work commenced.

1996. Work completed and the House opened on 16th February by Warren Bartlett, the Uniting Church Moderator.

2002. The Wurruk Community House is now well established and run by a Committee of Management of members from the community and members appointed by the Uniting Church.

Government funding is received and programs are run to meet community needs.
