East Gippsland Shire Property Sale. Right or Wrong?
"The East Gippsland Council has moved to sell for $1,525,000 its former headquarters that cost over $4.5m to establish plus almost 15 hectares of prime real estate. According to a document written by a former CEO the relocation of more than 30 staff will cost in excess of $2m.
Despite major objections from the community, large public meetings and hundreds of lodged objections, a petition to Parliament of 1700 signatures from across the shire and despite an an appeal to the Minister of Local Government of concerns with process and probity, the council moved unanimously to sell the property."

Raymond Street Sale. Open or Closed?
During the construction of Gippsland Centre Sale from 1882 to 1984, the main street, Raymond Street, was blocked at a Mall constructed at the corner of Raymond and Cunningham Streets. At the time, some Raymond Street traders complained that this was part of a plot to divert traffic to the new Sale City Council owned shopping centre.
After nearly twenty years of discussion and polls the Wellington Shire have decided to reopen Raymond Street to vehicular traffic.

A Free (Nude) Beach on the Ninety Mile Beach?
It has been proposed that a small secluded section of the Ninety Mile Beach between Golden Beach and Seaspray be proclaimed a "Free Beach".
The proposal was put to the Ninety Mile Beach Tourism Development Group and was given total support. It was also supported by the Regional Tourism body for the Wellington Shire in which the 90 Mile Beach is located.
The Free Beach has now been approved by Council and is waiting for an exact location to be chosen.
